SARANALAYAM (meaning Sanctuary) was established in 1993. It is authorized as per the legal norms of the government and operates as a non-profit charitable institution under the guidance and within the purview of District Administration. In order to empower and ensure basic rights for survival, protection, due respect, development and participation in all spheres of life to destitute women and children in Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari District. The 20 years of continued service to these children has won Saranalayam an identity of “Child-Centric” development organization in the southern region.
Aim of the Organization
The aim of organization is to provide a ‘New Life’ for the destitute women, sex workers, unwed mothers, Non-delinquent children, street children, rag-pickers, children in beggary, abandoned children and thrown away new-born babies by promoting their psychological, social, cultural, educational, medical and economical wellbeing in view of making them self-reliant, self-esteemed and dignified through occupational skills
Objectives
- To undertake programme such as formal and non-formal education, rehabilitation and other welfare program to attain the above said aim.
- To make our target group of children to feel that they are also part and core member of their family and the acceptance of their family members.
- To train and help the psychologically and morally disadvantaged children, organize soft skills and vocational skills training for their well being.
- To impart health and hygiene education for the disadvantaged
- To reassure them a feasible and healthy atmosphere with future hope and orientation.
- To carry on the work of the society in collaboration, co-operation with / through similar or other organizations.
